Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health - http://www.arthurasheinstitute.org/
The Community Health Empowerment Program (CHE) is provided to low-income neighborhoods, targeting underserved populations. The program presents health education in non-traditional venues, including African American and Afro-Caribbean churches as well as barber shops, beauty salons, laundromats, and tattoo parlors. English and Spanish programming promotes wellness, early detection, and self-empowerment through knowledge and eventual behavior modification. After success in New York City, the program was launched in Philadelphia in June 2005. GSK is a sponsor of this program.
