The Alliance for Health Reform this week released a toolkit on Medicaid they developed with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The toolkit, entitled "A Reporter's Toolkit: Medicaid," is designed for reporters covering health issues during the 2008 presidential campaign, but will also be useful for others, including patient advocates. It provides links to a plethora of Web sites and articles about Medicaid, including information about beneficiaries; how it is financed; how it differs from Medicare; how states can alter Medicaid through federal waivers; and the future of the program. Within the toolkit you'll find key facts, a brief brief background section, story ideas for reports, lists of selected issue experts and a glossary.
This is the second in a series of five toolkits for reporters and others supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Coming soon will be kits onchildren's health coverage, health care costs and health information technology.
