Bill Murphy
Director State Government Relations, Epilepsy Foundation
As a Special Education Teacher, Bill became interested in vocational issues for youth with disabilities. This led to his joining the national Epilepsy Foundation’s Training and Placement Service (TAPS). Bill served as the local Director of the TAPS employment program for four years prior to being a founding member, and Executive Director, of the Epilepsy Association of Greater Boston. During Bill’s twenty years as Executive Director, the agency grew in terms of members, budget and the number of programs and services offered to become today’s Epilepsy Foundation of Massachusetts & Rhode Island.
Currently Bill works wit the national Epilepsy Foundation as Director of State Government Relations. In this role he works with epilepsy programs nationwide to increase patient/consumer participation and local advocacy efforts.
In addition to speaking about epilepsy issues and public policy at local and national conferences, Bill has written several articles on employment issues for people with disabilities and epilepsy education in the school setting.
